Yao Ki was invited to Europe by the prestigious musician/president of the World Music
Association in Munich, Mr Hans Pizka, and she has been working for more than twenty years.
In 1990, she was invited by the Chamber Music Orchestra of Oporto.
At the same time, she has been teaching and playing in Portugal, in institutions such as the
Piaget University, the Foundation Conservatory of Music of Gaia, in Oporto, and the European
Community School of Professional Music – ARTAVE. Each year, many of her students have won
competitions.
She is one of the founders of "Trio Virtuous". She played Chamber music in numerous venues,
with Jankuta, a cellist from the University of Chopin in Warsaw, the Russian violinist Vladimir
Omeltchenko / concermast in Orchestra Classic of Coimbra.
She also did a recital with Swiss pianist Ana Marri, Professor at the Conservatory of Oporto, the
Brazilian pianist Jairo Crossi, among many others.
She has also played as soloist in several orchestras, dance companies and poetry performances.
She has participated in many Master Classes with renowned teachers, such as Isaac Stern and
Dorothy Delay.
In Portugal, she participated in the Master Class of Jewish-American violinist Max Rabinovich
and concert with him. She also studied the music teaching method with Richard Grunow, from
the USA, among many others.
Yao Ki is graduated and specialized in violin; she has attended courses at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Yunnan University, the Professional National School of Yunnan, the Central Conservatory in Beijing and also the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
In Portugal, Yao Ki organized a Postgraduate in Psychology of Music at the University of Oporto.
In November 2009, she won the first place in the category of violinist, at the Orchestra Philharmonic Kaliska in Poland.
In 2009, she embarked on a tour concert with the famous cellist Colin Carr, who is from the New England Conservatory, and performed together at the Henryk Wieniawski Concert Hall in Poland. She played composer Lutoslawski’s (1949) works.
In 2010, she was invited by the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Poland to make the China tour in Beijing, Shenyan, Dalian, Tianjing, etc.
She is interested in various music genres like Jazz, Blues, Fado (the traditional Portuguese music) and Chinese folk music.
